The Mama Diaries

A new mom’s quest for suburban bliss.

Yikes September 4, 2008

Sometimes I feel a tad bit guilty that Sawyer’s wardrobe consists of mostly used clothes, cloth diapers included (though his first pair of shoes from Nordstrom might have made up for it). Poor boy isn’t half as messy as the previous owners’ stains on his clothes imply. Really.

Then I read something like this…

At least I can be sure that tagless labels are long gone and washed away on anything we have.

Woops! Need to be careful what I wish for!

I have a JOB of all things! Started Thursday. Very good project work, with a very good company. A bit quicker than I had expected…

Testing the waters. So far, I like a half day, and coming home to the cutest kid ever.

Sawyer and I have been spending time with new friends Julie and Brooke. Julie and I met through a new moms group.

Already Brooke is the cool kid. She was the first one to have a pool, she has 2 fuzzy cats Sawyer adores (less a few fistfuls of fur thanks to Sawyer), and she eats green vegetables. Doesn’t get much better.

I think Sawyer is quite smitten with Brooke, or he should be. She is a cutie!

The Revolving Door of Sitters has Begun June 3, 2008

Today our sitter informed me that she is moving. As if that wasn’t bad enough, she is moving to HAWAII!

I realize she is the first of many sitters to come and go. But, she was our first. She started with us when Sawyer was 3 months old, when I went back to work. At the time he wasn’t taking a bottle (never did) so she fed him with a syringe. She must have thought we were crazy.

I have been thankful. Thankful that Sawyer has had such a wonderful caregiver. Thankful that each time I come home I have a happy, rested baby to hug.

Now I must begin the search for a new sitter. Of course whoever the next very capable individual is, they will never be as good as our first.

Sigh.

I am finally joining the blogosphere. Not quite the last one to the party, but pretty close.

Speaking of parties, a friend asked me today what my plans were for Sawyer’s first birthday. Hmmm, not quite sure given it is 53 days away! Apparently I should, at the very least, have a theme selected by now.

Poor kid, his life has barely begun and he is already severely deprived – can’t you tell?!
