A favorite childhood memory of mine is making and playing with homemade playdough. Enjoy!

oh what fun November 10, 2008

I never would have thought that the 9+ pound beast that came out of my belly would be this fun!

Why didn’t someone tell me that someday he would go to sleep at 6:30 and not wake up until 6? Why didn’t anyone tell me that one day he would just decide that his crib is pretty cool, especially when there are books inside it to be read…or that he would love to snuggle?!

Who knew that dragons were so delicious!

Not sure if Sawyer was being kind this morning, or if I was too sick to realize what was going on, but he didn’t holler until 7:00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lord help us.

Summer is Winding Down September 14, 2008

I can’t believe it, but it feels like summer has come to a close. The cool nights are here, some rainy days as well. I am shocked at how fast this past year has gone.

We took Riley to the pool today for her annual swim. As always, she had a blast. Though she is beginning to show her age, she preferred to swim from the shallow grade to deep. No running leaps into the deep end this year. Sawyer enjoyed watching all the pups – he probably thought Riley had multiplied with all the yellow labs running loose. We often had to figure out exactly which sloppy, wet tail was ours.

And with the end of summer comes time to regroup and figure out what the heck we want to do next year! Stay tuned…

And Then September 12, 2008

He puked. All over my neck, my hair, my shirt…a bit of a shock for a mom who has only seen spit up twice.

In Love September 5, 2008

We’ve all had those moments, you know, when you just wipe the teeny, tiny, microscopic (yeah, right) pile o’ poo off your clothes instead of changing immediately… boogers, what boogers? As you wipe away with your sleeve the long trail of green on his face…

Kids are nasty. I never would have imagined my nasty threshold could increase exponentially with my own. My child was going to be the very clean and tidy exception.

And then today happened.

Sawyer has a stuffy nose which requires him to breathe through his mouth, in between the snot bubbles he blows out his nose. He is also teething and therefore, drooling, more liquid out of his body than is going in. I have never before witnessed such an impressive snot drool combo.

13 months ago I would have been disgusted with such a display of obvious neglect – hello! Kleenex?

So when that chubby, snot drool face came in for a kiss this afternoon, what could I do? Pucker up and kiss him back of course…and wash my face 3 hours later, when I realized that teeny, tiny, spot on my check was big, fat, green boogers.
